OUR FIRST EVER “ANNUAL SPRING WALKATHON”

ANNOUNCING!

OUR FIRST EVER “ANNUAL SPRING WALKATHON”

STUDENT TUITION FUNDRAISER

Calling all GVCP Walkathon Sponsors – and Donors!

Q - I know what a “Donor” is, but what’s a “Walkathon Sponsor”?

A - Hopefully, that’s YOU!

On Saturday, May 17th, at 12:00 noon, (Rain Date Sunday, 5/18, same time) the Global Village Children’s Project is inviting you to take a hike with us from the Parish of St Paul – in Newton Highlands, at 1135 Walnut Street – to nearby Cold Springs Park. From there we will walk once around the perimeter of the park and then back again to St Paul’s. The whole walk will be a little over 2.7 miles – 5,278 steps to be exact, assuming your stride and mine are about the same.

Walkers will all be Fundraising Team Leaders (“Sponsors”) or individual “Donors” who have joined one of the teams. Sponsors will commit to doing all they can to build a team that will raise the upcoming school term’s tuition fee for a GVCP student of their choosing.

You can begin to get to know each of our young people individually by reading “Introducing Our Students“. These students are all young people – some of whom were orphaned at a very early age – who are in the supportive care of the GVCP. We will need 14 sponsors, collaborating with supportive donors, to reach our goal of assuring that each of these young people will be able to take the next step in pursuing their academic goals, as they continue along their paths toward meaningful careers and adult self-sufficient independence.

In the coming weeks, after choosing a student for whom they will fundraise, Sponsors will tell their family, coworkers, friends and neighbors of their fundraising goal and the purpose it will serve – hopefully, arriving at our 5/17/25 event with full achievement of having raised their chosen student’s upcoming academic term tuition. If sponsors have a friend they wish to collaborate with, teams can be co-sponsored, making fundraising efforts all the more pleasurable, and hopefully easier as well.

One Response

  1. Great Exercise for a great cause. This will give everyone a chance to reflect together on the accomplishments of The Global Village Children’s Project and what still needs to be achieved to help these children and young adults receive the kind of education necessary to enable them to make our world a better place to live in.
