Dear Friends,
I thought a good place to begin today’s letter to you would be to picture some of the activity that our young people engage in while home on brake from their studies – working to keep our crop fields fertile and joining in community service events like tree planting. And of course, back at Anne’s home – which also serves as the base of our work in Wanyange – there is lots of GVCP “family fun”, as well, when studies are set aside for a bit. But, not wanting to overload you today, I will save sharing more of those kinds of photos for another day.
Today what I would like to talk about with you most of all, is the next phase of our young peoples education. Thanks to so many of you who responded these past couple of months, sufficient tuition funds were raised to return all of our High School students to their dorms for their upcoming school terms. THANK YOU!
Now, we need to focus on making sure our college students can all begin their approaching next semesters. Currently, we have four students who are in the midst of their college careers and four more students who have passed their qualifying exams and who look forward – if tuition funds arrive in time – to beginning college this summer. I will tell you about each of these young people and their academic aspirations soon.
But for today though I just want to stop and share with you the kind of impact your generosity has on our students. Blessing, whose education has been fully guaranteed by one or our donors, wrote the lovely letter which follows below. Her sponsor has given their permission to share that letter with you and Anne thinks it is ok for me to do so as well.
Blessing’s letter here are unique to her of course, but in a way she truly speaks for all of her fellow GVCP sponsored students. And I simply wanted you to get a feel for the depth of appreciation that we consistently hear from our kids as they work so diligently to prepare for their adult careers.
(In perhaps a bit easier to read format, Blessing’s letter follows again – below this handwritten version – in typed out format)
Dear _____,
I hope this letter finds you in good condition.
I have written this letter to thank you for my school fees and all the school requirements.
When my dad died, there was no expectation of me reaching this level in my education. Now I am in senior two (comparable to our senior year in high school in the USA) in a very nice school which has taught me many things. These include knowledge (and) skills. And I have got many friends who help me in studying and I perform very well.
I would like to become an orthopedic doctor. I was inspired by the doctor who worked on my leg when it got a problem and I could not walk – spending many months in the hospital. They helped me to walk again and I will always be thankful.
When I become a doctor I would always also want to help people who have problems with their legs, so they can also be happy.
May God bless you.
Sincerely,
Blessing

But if you feel called to do so already, you can help us climb “Tuition Mountain” right away! Also you can save us processing fees by sending your greatly appreciated donation as a check made directly to “Global Village Children’s Project” to
